Andrew Newell is an experienced regulatory and corporate law attorney. Prior to returning to private practice, he served as General Counsel for two Colorado-based technology companies from 2009 through late 2017. He led teams that obtained substantial funding from federal infrastructure grant programs, reverse auctions, and government contracts. He has also negotiated hundreds of high-value private sector contracts, including international vendor agreements, software license agreements, and corporate finance agreements. He has also led public policy efforts that succeeded in making necessary changes to telecommunications legislation.
In private practice from 2002-2009, Andy represented numerous telecommunications and transportation clients in litigation before state and federal administrative agencies, including telecommunications carriers that were harmed by the unlawful and anti-competitive business practices of Qwest Communications Corp.
Andy has also led several corporate finance projects, ranging from the issue of a private placement memorandum for a startup resort real estate company to the negotiation of a nine figure credit facility secured by telecommunications network assets located across the Midwest. He has also led M&A activity, including negotiation, due diligence, and post-closing matters.
Andy is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law (J.D., 1999) and the University of California at Los Angeles (B.A., 1996).
